How Familiar Lab research, Fusion, genetics, Catalysts, and lineage work.

What familiars are

Familiars are companion creatures connected to your pets. They are meant to reward curiosity: research records their genes permanently, while Fusion combines two familiars into a new inherited result and preserves its lineage.

Basic loop

  1. 1Get a familiarFind familiars at the Lantern Aviary, in player markets, through shops, or as rewards.
  2. 2Choose Research or FusionResearch one familiar for permanent gene knowledge, or select two parents for a Fusion experiment.
  3. 3Tune the chamberChoose a reusable Calibration and, if you have one, an optional consumable Fusion Catalyst to recall an eligible claimed result.
  4. 4Return and claimExperiments keep running while you leave the Lab. Claim completed work to record the result and free the chamber.
  5. 5Reverb when neededA matching Reverb Catalyst can unwind a claimed Fusion result and restore fresh copies of its original pair.

Do familiars replace pets?
No. They are companions and collection goals that attach to pet play.
Should I research or fuse first?
Research reveals permanent knowledge and earns Lab XP. Fusion creates a new familiar from two parents. Both consume the familiars you submit, so inspect the preview before deciding.
Can I undo a Fusion?
After claiming the result, a matching Reverb Catalyst can unwind that Fusion and restore fresh copies of its original pair.
