Scooter Fenn here, reporting live from Iskerval's Inner City, where yesterday the cottage by the stairs was empty. This morning it has a banner, a rack full of costumes and a shopkeeper with a jack-o'-lantern for a head. Naturally, I asked for an interview.
Scooter: Thanks for talking to The Drift! First question, and I think everyone's wondering: who are you?
The Proprietor: The Proprietor. That is the whole name, I'm afraid. I left the rest of it in last year's costume.
Scooter: Fair enough. So how does a whole shop show up in one night?
The Proprietor: The same way October does. You blink, and suddenly everyone is somebody else. I simply make sure they have something to wear.
Scooter: And what are folks wearing this year?
The Proprietor: Witches, for a start. Emerald for the brooding sort, bubble-pink for the sparkly sort. .
Scooter: Any tips for readers getting ready for Halloween?
The Proprietor: Start early and try everything on.
Scooter: Last one. What happens after Hollow's Eve?
The Proprietor: The last candle goes out, the cottage goes quiet, and who knows? Come and see me before then.
The Phantom Pop-Up is open now in Inner City: take the crystal cave behind the Iskerval harbor and look for the banner over the awning. Go early, go often, and bring a friend who'll tell you honestly whether the snake wig works.
That's the drift. Mind the tide.
