Sensipets Re-Design

  On the side of my other projects, I've been working on a re-design for the site (Unsolicited. Definitely not on staff!) to make entry into the site more intuitive by utilizing a more mobile game-like design. It's not a popular trend, as you have likely noticed a lot of sites either engage in severe minimalism (for ease of responsive design), as well as pet sites using the exact same template Neopets started in 1999. And lord, was this a challenge. Not only for the sake of responsive design, but I probably went through about 15-18 iterations before it even remotely looked decent. I believe this one is the... 24th? 25th? Let's just say I crashed my program and had to redesign two of the pages due to losing the data XD.

  
  

  I am currently working on shop and the onboarding process (Tutorial) to quickly get folks familiar with the site and encourage them to immediately engage with the community forums to begin forming a sense of family and hospitality.

  
  

  These are just the entry pages, and I haven't created the mobile equivalent just yet, but when I've developed more pages, I'll post them here. Feedback is always appreciated, so by all means, go nuts!

  Your work looks gorgeous, my only minor criticism is that it looks way too much like Neopets right down to the sign in section being in yellow... if Sensipets went this route I'd be afraid that Neopets would catch on and have an issue with it. I think Sensipets needs to have its own distinct identity even in the website design or appearance. It does look fantastic though, and looks super professional.

  As far as Neopets goes, trust me, they care extremely little XD (Jumpstart is a few crayons short of a full box). There's actually a website out called Neopets Classic (shamelessly) that is the exact set up of the original, elements and assets all. It's doing pretty well, and I imagine you're familiar with Marapets and a slew of others.

  
  

  You're definitely correct regarding the sign in page, and I need to re-evaluate it. There was a strong emphasis on the color theme of blue, white and an orange/yellow for the website, hence it's inclusion, but I feel it would do better being back in white as I had it originally.

  Yeah, whenever a huge makeover happens with a pet site, there is always a group that breaks off in frustration, and goes about creating the old version, or a version they'd be happy with. Prior to Neopets Classic, it was Leopets in 2006, but unfortunately it was a side project and often would close down, reopen in a few years, close down, reopen in a few years. The creators either lost interest or they couldn't afford it as naturally, they can't make money off of the site due to it violating copyright. I think the last time they reopened was... 2014?
