As the site grows, it's important to consider how a player might play on a day-to-day basis. I want to open discussion on how people feel about dailies/what they like/don't like!
Here's my personal list:
- Dailies shouldn't take too long. It's why on Neopets I'll spin Trudy's but won't go & play a bunch of games. While I'd get more currency if I did, it would take a long time and would feel like a chore! Interestingly, both Sensi's memory game & FlightRising's Glimmer & Gloom have something in common where they're considered a daily by many, but I personally don't do it daily since I can't focus that long. 😂
- Dailies should be easy to access! Currently all daily things on Sensi are nice & easy to navigate. Neopets is a nightmare and I have to use a grocery list of links.
- Dailies should never punish a player. Many sites, games, & apps will try to hold their players' attention daily by adding a daily login bonus that racks up as the days go by, but punish them for missing a day by breaking the streak. While this is a great addition for the player who already plays daily, it can be a source of frustration for those who can't play daily. A player who forgets one day might lose motivation to continue playing if they break their streak. A compromise could possibly be to have it add to a counter regardless of days missed (the more days you play the faster it fills, but the final prize IS guarenteed eventually).
- Dailies should never end in net negative for a player. VERY VERY few games do this but I have seen it before. While not the case here at all, I've played a game where doing all the dailies can get you nothing or TAKE currency from you, leaving you with less than the day before! In this site's case, basically you should be able to afford your pet's needs that day with what you got from dailies that day (considering you were there the days before), which is 100% possible right now!
- Dailies should never run on a 24 hour counter. That's oddly specific, but weirdly common. If you have to wait 24 hours exactly for something to reset, then that time being pushed later & later is inevitable. Soon enough your time's at 3am and it's either lose out to reset it to something managable or lose sleep. Resets on rollover are much easier to figure out!
