Typing on here via mobile is an absolute nightmare, but it's been that kind of day, so we rolling anyway.

What's something you learned this week?

As far as Sensi goes, I discovered Rajecks are apparently supposed to be hyenas.

Outside of that, I was introduced to a phenomenal book regarding user experience and neuroscience. It'd probably feel like a scientific research paper to you, but it's fascinating as all get up to learn how to manipulate and improve user experiences using a variety of psychological methods we already have built into us.

It's called "The Gamer's Brain: How Neuroscience & UX Can Impact Video Game Design" by Celia Hodent. I've followed her for quite some time, and have a signed copy of her "The Psychology of Video Games", which is her latest book, but I never got the chance to read the first.

It is ASTOUNDING. I love it so much. It's so hard to keep reading it though because every time I do, I get so excited to apply it to a design I'm working on. There's so much information to take from it. Being into UI/UX, it's always frustrating when the folks that hire you don't understand why things are designed a specific way. They just want a pretty site or game but then can't figure out why the poor reviews are coming in regarding the lack of functionality. It's the whole "There's a reason for everything" situation.

It's going to wind up being one of those books that has 5,000 post it markers in it, I'm sure of it. Books like these need to be required reading for anyone wanting to get into games of any kind @_@

Obviously, I'd suggest buying it to support, but I'm also not going to balk if you need to find... *ahem* more accessible means of obtaining it, wink wink, hint hint.
